Introduction of the Consultant

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, is undertaking a consultancy to review and update The Gambia Diaspora Engagement Strategy and develop a comprehensive Action Plan, in line with The Gambia's Recovery-Focused National Development Plan (RF-NDP) 2023–2027.

This activity is implemented under the tripartite project between IOM, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union Commission (AUC), "Streamlining Diaspora Engagement to Catalyse Private Investments and Entrepreneurship for Enhanced Resilience" (SDE4R), which aims to boost private sector growth, economic development and resilience by leveraging diaspora contributions.

IOM has contracted Mr. Sering Falu Njie as the consultant for this assignment. As part of his responsibilities, Mr. Njie is engaging government institutions, local authorities, diaspora organisations, civil society and other stakeholders — including you.

Purpose of the consultation

Why your input matters

The objective of this exercise is to help the Government of The Gambia develop a comprehensive strategy to effectively engage, empower and strengthen relations with the Gambian diaspora through targeted outreach and development initiatives.

We would like to learn how you, as members of the diaspora, are engaged in your communities and in the country at large; what you do or support and how; and the successes and benefits realised. We also want to understand the constraints you have encountered, and your recommendations — in particular, how government can support you and your family members.
